Clarus™ and Design Community Raise over $60k in Hurricane Relief
Two weeks ago, we challenged the interior design community to unite in support of the victims affected by Hurricane Harvey in our home state. We believed in this so much that we wanted to put our money where our mouth was, promising to match dollar for dollar all donations until we reached our goal. In a short period of time, we raised $60,000 in donations, all of which are going directly to relief efforts via the American Red CrossAs the frantic phone calls, images, and newsreels revealed the devastation and destruction left in the wake of Harvey, we felt compelled to answer the call.
Within the company, many Clarus employees felt an immense weight watching our Houston neighbors ride out the storm. Once the storm stopped, a substantial team of Clarus employees assembled to assist in the “mucking” of flooded homes for several days. Why do we not have an exact headcount of employees who went to Houston? Because while a dedicated “Clarus sponsored” team went in an organized effort, countless others went on their own, taking time out of their lives to help Houstonians in need.
The Clarus team members that didn’t make the trip to Houston participated in a Baby Drive to collect diapers, wipes, and clothing for the tiniest Houstonians. We even had a Clarus employee in the National Guard who was deployed to Houston. The stories seem to be countless, and will surely be something we never forget.
